Abstract
A foundation for structure (1). The foundation (1) has a body (2) for insertion into the soil in the insertion direction during installation. The body (2) has a toe (8) at its distal end. The toe (2) defines a hole (11) that leads into an internal cavity (15). The movement of the toes (2) through the soil drains the soil laterally into a drained soil area in the inner chamber (15). One or more nozzles (10) are provided to direct a fluid to the drained soil during installation to transport soil away from the drained soil area. A pumping system (24) is also provided to evacuate fluid from the internal cavity (15) during installation to reduce soil suspension pressure in the drained soil area.
