Abstract
Foundation for structures (1). The foundation 1 has a body 2 for insertion into the soil in the insertion direction during installation. The body 2 has a front heel 8 at its distal end. The forefoot (2) defines an opening (11) into the internal cavity (15). Moving the forefoot (2) through the soil results in a lateral displacement into the displaced soil portion within the internal cavity (15). One or more nozzles (10) are provided for directing fluid to the displaced soil site during installation to transport soil away from the displaced soil site. A pumping system 24 is also provided for discharging fluid from the internal cavity 15 during installation to reduce the soil suspension pressure within the displaced soil area.
