Abstract

A rotor hub of a wind turbine is provided that is configurable between a use or "run" configuration and a transport configuration. In the transport configuration, the rotor hub has a reduced outer dimension than in the operating configuration. The rotor hub includes a generally hollow hub body having first and second ends spaced apart along a hub rotational axis, the first end defining a rotor connection flange configured to connect the rotor hub to the main shaft, the second end defining a nose region of the hub. The hub further defines at least one blade bore defined between the first and second ends, a blade bearing associated with the or each blade bore, and a pitch actuator associated with the blade bearing. In the operational configuration, a portion of the pitch actuator protrudes a first distance from the nose region of the hub body, and in the transport configuration, the portion of the pitch actuator protrudes less from the nose region of the hub body than in the operational configuration. Thus, it will be appreciated that energizing the pitch actuator changes the extent to which the pitch actuator protrudes through the nose region of the hub body.
