Abstract
A rotor hub for a wind turbine is provided which is configurable between a use or "run" configuration and a transport configuration. In the transport configuration, the outer dimensions of the rotor hub are reduced compared to when in the running configuration. The rotor hub includes a generally hollow hub body having a first end and a second end spaced along the hub axis of rotation, the first end defining a rotor connecting flange configured to connect the rotor hub to the main shaft, and the second end defining a nose region of the hub. The hub further defines at least one blade aperture defined between the first and second ends, a blade bearing associated with the or each blade aperture, and a pitch actuator associated with the blade bearing. In the operational configuration, a portion of the pitch actuator projects a first distance from a nose region of the hub body, and in the transport configuration, the portion of the pitch actuator projects from the nose region of the hub body to a lesser extent than in the operational configuration. Thus, it will be appreciated that energizing the pitch actuator changes the extent to which the pitch actuator protrudes through the nose region of the hub body.
