Abstract

The present invention relates to a process for producing synthesis gas for the production of hydrocarbon products, in particular synthetic fuels, comprising the steps of: providing a hydrocarbon feed stream comprising biogas; optionally purifying the hydrocarbon feed stream in a gas purification unit; optionally, pre-reforming the hydrocarbon feed stream with the steam feed in a pre-reforming unit; steam methane reforming is performed in a reforming reactor heated by a power source; the synthesis gas is provided to a synthesis fuel synthesis unit, preferably a fischer-tropsch synthesis unit, for converting the synthesis gas to hydrocarbon products and producing tail gas. The invention also relates to a system for producing synthesis gas for use in the production of hydrocarbon products, in particular synthetic fuels.
