Abstract

A method and reactor for performing exothermic reactions with catalyst modules operating in parallel, the catalyst modules being arranged in a stacked sequence within a pressure housing and adapted to flow process gas axially through one or more catalyst layers, at least one of the catalyst layers being cooled by an in-bed heat exchanger.
