Abstract

The present disclosure relates generally to a validation process in a wind turbine, as well as a controller and a wind turbine implementing the process. In one aspect, a method of verifying smoke detection in a smoke detection system comprises: receiving an indication of smoke detection; determining a first temperature of a temperature sensor; and starting a thermal verification operation. The thermal validation operation includes: starting a timer after determining the first temperature; and determining whether the current temperature of the temperature sensor has increased by a predetermined amount relative to the first temperature. At least one of disconnecting a switching device and activating an alarm is performed if the current temperature of the temperature sensor has increased by a predetermined amount relative to the first temperature.
