Abstract

A bayonet coupling for mounting a tool (1) to a drive shaft (2) of a machining unit. The drive shaft (2) is connected to the tool (1) by means of a bayonet coupling, which comprises two coupling parts. One coupling part is provided with a receiving slot (5) for an engaging tab (7) on the other coupling part. The receiving groove (5) has a first section (10), the first section (10) extending parallel to the axis of rotation, and a second section (8, 9) of the receiving groove extending transversely, preferably perpendicularly, to the axis of rotation (16), so that the tool can be driven by engagement of the bayonet coupling. The bayonet coupling differs in that the second section (8, 9) of the receiving groove extends on both sides of the first section, forming a T-shaped receiving groove, said bayonet coupling being designed with at least one locking tab (12) with a barb (13) for engaging with a respective tooth (11), such that upon rotation of the tool the locking engagement is established by the engagement of the locking tab (12) with the tooth (11). This results in a bayonet coupling which can be brought into locking engagement regardless of the direction in which the tool is rotated, thereby achieving greater safety, since the risk of the tool (1) falling out during use is minimized.
