Abstract
Electrolysis, comprising supplying a mixture of steam and compressed air to a first electrolysis unit of a series of electrolysis units and with air from the outlet of one electrolysis unit to the inlet of the next electrolysis unit. In the method of producing ammonia synthesis gas by, the electrolysis unit is operated in an endothermic manner, and the nitrogen portion of the synthesis gas is provided by burning hydrogen produced by steam electrolysis by air in or between the electrolysis unit. . The electrolysis unit is preferably a solid oxide electrolytic cell (SOEC) stack.
