Abstract
A generator for a wind turbine, comprising: a generator housing, a stator in a radially outward position and a rotor in a radially inward position, the rotor being arranged around a rotation axis R and forming a hollow section. It includes a cylindrical ring structure forming. The generator further includes a rotor shroud attached to the generator housing and extending around the rotation axis (R), wherein the rotor shroud protects the cylindrical ring structure of the rotor. It includes a dome portion extending inside the hollow portion of. Advantageously, the rotor shroud provides a tunnel-like surface extending into the hollow portion of the generator to prevent objects such as tools from contacting components of the rotor. The invention also relates to a method for assembling such a generator with a rotor shroud.
