Abstract
The application describes a method of manufacturing a wind turbine rotor blade (1) comprising two or more rotor blade segments (11, 12), which method comprises the steps of providing a mould (3, 30S, 30P) for the entire rotor blade (1), the mould comprising a lower shell (30S) and an upper shell (30P); forming a lower layup (2S) in the lower shell (30S), which lower layup (2S) includes a connector (15) for adjacent rotor blade segments (11, 12) and a spar cap (13C) on either side of the connector (15); placing a mandrel (31) onto the lower layup (2S), the mandrel (31) extending across the connector (15) of the lower layup (2S); forming a corresponding upper layup (2P) over the mandrel (31), which upper layup (2P) comprises a connector (15) for adjacent rotor blade segments (11, 12) and a spar cap (13C) on either side of the connector (15); and placing the upper shell (30P) onto the upper layup (2P). The invention further describes a wind turbine rotor blade (1) manufactured using such a method.
