Abstract

The present invention relates to an apparatus for determining at least one of a bending strength of a substrate and a peel strength of a joint between a structure and the substrate. The apparatus includes a fixture configured to support a structure and a plurality of support spars positioned on each side of the fixture and configured to support a substrate. Additionally, the apparatus includes a plurality of load applying members configured to apply a load to the substrate to deform the substrate relative to the plurality of support spars. Further, the apparatus includes a sensor configured to determine parameters during application of a load to the substrate, such as an axial load induced in the structure, a peel stress in a joint between the substrate and the structure, and a bending moment on the substrate, to determine at least one of a bending strength and a peel strength.
