Abstract

The present disclosure relates to a control system for inhibiting biological growth, fouling and/or corrosion in a recirculating evaporative cooling device (1), wherein the control system is configured to: monitoring a value C from at least one sensor (19 a-19 l), wherein the value is indicative of the ion concentration in the cooling liquid of the recirculating evaporative cooling device (1); and controlling at least one flow regulating device (21, 23) to regulate the hydraulic operation of at least one deionization unit (13) of the recirculating evaporative cooling apparatus (1), wherein the control system is configured to control at least one parameter of the hydraulic operation of the at least one deionization unit (13) based on the adaptive target water conservation as long as the monitored value C does not exceed a predetermined threshold.
