Abstract

A rotor blade for a wind turbine includes first and second blade segments extending in opposite directions from a chordwise joint. Each of the first and second blade segments includes an inner support structure and one or more shell components. The inner support structure of the first blade segment comprises a beam structure extending between the receiving end and the second end. The inner support structure of the second blade segment comprises a receiving section receiving the receiving end of the beam structure of the first blade segment. The rotor blade further comprises one or more connection locations in which the first blade segment and the second blade segment are fastened together. Furthermore, when the beam structure is received within the receiving section, a gap comprising a varying thickness is defined in the spanwise direction of the rotor blade and maintained between the beam structure and the receiving section.
