Abstract
An implantable medical device including a wireless transdermal link includes an external unit and an implantable unit. The external unit includes: an electronic unit operatively connected to the transmitter coil; a coil unit including a loop structure; a fixation unit configured to connect the ring structure i) proximate the implantable receiver coil and ii) around a body part of the user such that a portion of the body part is located within the hollow portion of the ring structure to the body of the user. The implantable unit comprises: an implantable receiver coil; a processing unit configured to i) process the received data signal, and/or ii) utilize the received energy for operation of at least one element of the implantable unit; wherein the wireless transdermal link comprises a coupling between the transmitter coil and the receiver coil, and at least a substantial amount of magnetic flux lines generated in response to excitation of the transmitter coil pass through the implantable receiver coil when the loop structure is connected using the stationary unit.
