Large-sized turbocharged two-stroke uniflow crosshead dual-fuel internal combustion engine

A large turbocharged two-stroke uniflow crosshead dual fuel internal combustion engine comprising: at least one fuel inlet valve associated with the cylinder and disposed in the cylinder liner between the scavenging gas inlet and the cylinder head or in the cylinder head for admitting a first fuel during a stroke; at least one fuel injection valve disposed in the cylinder head or the cylinder liner; at least one pilot ignition prechamber arranged in the cylinder head or cylinder liner, having at least one prechamber port leading to the combustion chamber for igniting the mixture of the first fuel and the scavenging gas in the combustion chamber with fuel introduced into said prechamber, wherein the fuel injection valve is arranged to introduce fuel into the pilot ignition prechamber during otto-cycle mode operation and to inject fuel into at least the combustion chamber during diesel-cycle operation. Thus, the overall cost of the engine will be reduced, avoiding separate pilot fuel injection valves and supply systems, while still providing good performance.
