The present disclosure relates to a medical electrode for long-term biopotential monitoring and/or recording of biopotential signals, said medical electrode comprising a sensor element, a device backing, an ion conductive layer in contact with the skin side of the sensor element, and a water absorbent skin adhesive layer surrounding the ion conductive layer and having an upper side and a skin side adapted to attach to skin.
