DRILL BIT TIP AND DRILL WITH DRILL BIT TIP, MOLD AND METHOD FOR MANUFACTURING DRILL BIT TIP

A method and mold for manufacturing a drill-bit tip plate (40) for forming the tip of a twist drill bit (100), and atrial-bit tip plate (40) manufactured by the method. the method comprises by providing a sintering mold (1) comprising a first punch (20), a second punch (30) and a sintering die (10), the sintering die (10) having a channel (13) with a cross-sectional shape that corresponds to the cross sectional shape of the first punch (20) and second punch (30), the second punch (30) having a distal end (35) corresponding to a negative shape of the tip front end (47) and the first punch (20) having a distal end that corresponds to the negative shape of the tip rear end (48); providing an amount of sintering powder (60) to be compacted in the channel (13) and applying a force to the first punch (20) and the second punch (30) to sinter the sintering powder (60) into the tip (40), and ejecting the tip (40) from said sintering die (10) by pushing the second punch (30) into the channel (13) at least until the tip (40) is ejected from said channel (13). A drill-bit tip plate (40) with a first and a second apex (45,46) distanced from an axis of rotation (X) and having inner and outer cutting edges (42,43,65,66) with the first-and second apex (45,46) being distanced from the broad sides (58,59) of the geo-bit tip plate (40).
